Deadly East St. Louis Hit and Run Accidents

|

Orlando Wilson, age 48, has been identified by the St. Clair County Coroner's Office as the man killed Wednesday night, on October 3, by a hit and run driver. At around 8:35 P.M. Wednesday evening, Wilson was struck and killed on the 2500 block of Argonne Drive in East St. Louis by a Jeep Cherokee that then fled the scene. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred less than a mile from his home on the 3000 block of Audubon Drive in East St. Louis.

The police found the Jeep that fled the scene a few blocks away from the crash with a passenger still inside. Investigators were then able to contact the driver's mother who was able to convince her son to turn himself in.

This incident occurred only twelve hours after another fatal crash in East St. Louis. In this incident Maxsimillion Quarles Gaston, age 41, was struck and killed, while driving in East St. Louis, by a man who had stolen an East St. Louis police car. The suspect was released from St. Louis University Hospital into the custody of the Illinois State Police.

Police say that charges are pending against both suspects.
